Hosted inside the shearing shed at Dwarsvlei Farm near Middelburg in the Eastern Cape, the installation transformed the space into an immersive journey through the Karoo’s four seasons. More than 50 South African artists, farmers, makers and designers contributed, weaving together the raw textures of wool and farm life into a layered celebration of creativity, collaboration and community.
Each season unfolded through art, fashion, furniture, farming and design, using natural and locally sourced materials to ground the work in its place of origin. Visitors moved through both a literal and symbolic cycle, from land and labour to fibre and form, encountering the richness, versatility and heritage of South African wool.

For us, Wool World was not just an exhibition but a collective act of reverence for the land, the fibre and the many hands that shape it. Rooted in Ubuntu and the Shokunin spirit of mastery and care, the project honoured co-creation as the foundation of sustainable design.
